Keto Coleslaw Dressing (Low Carb, Keto)


Keto coleslaw in a blue bowlThis keto coleslaw dressing recipe was passed down from my great grandmother to my mother. I now make it at least once a week to eat on my giant, Bearish coleslaw salads and is simply adapted it to be a low carb/keto/sugar-free variation. I use stevia but you can adapt this to use the sweetener of your choice. It is light with the perfect combination of tang from the apple cider vinegar and sweet from the stevia. As for adjusting the salt and pepper, I do adjust the dressing itself but when I add it to the coleslaw, I typically add quite a bit more salt and pepper since the cabbage itself needs a little boost.

People often ask me what I ate in the year that I lost over 140 pounds and this is it! I ate a lot of coleslaw with this particular dressing. I mean I really ate a whole lot of it! Giant bowls! This dressing is perfect over the cabbage and that cabbage will fill your stomach up like nothing else. It provides you with a great combination of micro-nutrients at the same time. It’s crazy because I am not even tired of it after all of these many months. I even crave it, still. You need to try it if you haven’t.

To make this a successful keto coleslaw dressing, you need to be mindful of the carbohydrates in both your mayonnaise and in your sour cream. Mayonnaise manufacturers have taken to add sugars to their products even though mayonnaise traditionally was a zero-carb food. Check the labels. Likewise, check that sour cream. You will find lower carb sour creams among the full fat options.

Keto Coleslaw Dressing Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise. (Read labels. Choose a low carb option.)
  • 1 cup sour cream. (Read labels. Choose a low carb option.)
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar.
  • Stevia (or other sweetener) to taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Keto Coleslaw Dressing Steps

  1. Add mayonnaise, sour cream, and apple cider vinegar to a bowl.
  2. Blend well.
  3. Add stevia (or other sweetener) to taste.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.

This amount of dressing will top the coleslaw from a large head of cabbage very generously. It may be too much, depending on your preferences. Add about half at first and stir it into your cabbage. Add more if desired. Any extra will keep for a couple of weeks in your refrigerator.
